We are pleased to partner with Purina Pro Plan Veterinary Diets for the November 2022 VetFuel.

There are many probiotics currently marketed for use in animals. There can be quality control issues with some products and not all probiotics have the same effects of the gastrointestinal microbiota or immune responses. The purpose of this lecture is to provide a review of what is known about the probiotics currently used in dogs and cats with an emphasis on peer-reviewed, published studies. Emphasis will be placed on the effects of probiotics on gastrointestinal health and those probiotics that have been proven to have immune-enhancing effects.
